From LLMs and chatbots to Continuous Operational Intelligence
Models generate. Chatbots converse. Context systems remember. Businesses need more: to know what is true, why it matters, who may see it, and what should happen next. CONTROL is Gateway Data's answer — a category we call Continuous Operational Intelligence.
A business intelligence capability that continuously captures operational signals, connects them to the right entities and history, verifies their source and confidence, and makes them available for permitted action across the organization.
Rules, data boundaries, retention, allowed models
RBAC, visibility, authorization, approvals
Source pointers, provenance, confidence
Approved skills, tools, routing, cost limits
Append-only record of inputs and actions
A subscriber-driven renewal model
CONTROL is a full-feature subscription. Nothing is crippled and no features are paywalled. Sign-up is 3 months prepaid, and when that period ends your subscription is suspended unless you choose to renew.
No annual lock-in because you forgot to cancel, and no data trapped in a system you can't leave. If CONTROL has helped you run and understand your business, you renew. If it hasn't, you do nothing and your data is deleted after the cancellation period.
Merit-based subscriptions. It's how we think all SaaS should earn its fees.
Read the full details in the FAQ →Mike Smith leads the development, operationalization and market introduction of CONTROL, Gateway Data’s Continuous Operational Intelligence platform.
His work is focused on a problem that has followed businesses for decades: critical information is created constantly, but the context around that information is usually scattered across people, software, conversations, documents and workflows.
CONTROL was developed to deal with that problem directly.
Mike’s background spans operational systems, software development, workflow automation, applied AI, business process design, customer operations, systems integration and information management. Over the course of his career, he has designed and built systems that connect business processes, reduce manual handling, improve operational visibility and make complex information easier to act on.
That experience has shaped the design of CONTROL.
His current responsibilities include platform strategy, product development, intelligence architecture, multi-LLM orchestration, workflow design, operational analytics, contextual and relationship intelligence, AI governance, provenance, auditability and the practical deployment of AI inside business operations.
A central principle behind his work is that information alone is not intelligence.
Knowing that something happened is useful. Knowing who was involved, what changed, what it relates to, what came before it and what should happen next is far more valuable.
That is the operating model behind CONTROL: capture the signal, preserve the context, connect the relevant details and make the intelligence usable.
Mike’s focus at Gateway Data is now on turning that model into a practical operating platform for organizations that need better visibility, better continuity and better decisions from the information they already generate every day.
