Straight answers

Straight answers about AI and CONTROL

Being wary of AI is reasonable. A lot of it is oversold. These are honest answers to the questions small business owners ask us most, including what CONTROL can’t do.

Can CONTROL see my business information?

Only what you connect, and only to read it. You choose which email, calendar and file accounts to connect. CONTROL can read them, but it can’t change, move or delete anything in them.

Third-party sources such as Slack, Notion, Google Drive, Docs and Sheets are connected read-only. Client source documents, including records stored in the Records Vault, are never modified. CONTROL builds its own intelligence packets, which hold references back to the original sources, so there is nothing to sync and no two-way integration. See Security.

Is my information used to train AI?

No. Your business information isn’t used to train the CONTROL uses.

Full detailHide detail

Customer data is not used to train third-party foundation models. Model access is governed by policy, and model-assisted actions are recorded for audit. Before any model is used, the permission check checks that the model and provider are allowed for that information. The model never decides what it may access.

Can it get things wrong?

Yes. Any AI can misread something or make a mistake, and we won’t pretend otherwise. That’s why CONTROL shows where every answer came from, so you can check it against the original email or file, and why nothing happens without your approval.

CONTROL retrieves evidence first and reasons over it second; the model is not the evidence store. The identity layer resolves who a piece of information refers to, so two people called Steve are never merged because their names match. The reasoning layer identifies assumptions and uncertainty rather than inventing missing facts. Every answer exposes the evidence behind each statement.

Will it send emails or do things on its own?

No. It can prepare an email draft for you to read and send yourself, and add calendar entries if you allow it. It can’t send email, texts or any other message on your behalf.

Knowing does not imply permission to act. “These three commitments are overdue” is intelligence; “create three tasks and assign them to Steve” is an operational effect, and it returns through the permission check first. Every governed decision is recorded: who asked, under what authority and policy, and what was decided.

Will it replace my staff?

No. It isn’t designed to do anyone’s job. It keeps track of the details that are easy to lose, so you and your team spend less time searching and chasing. Decisions stay with people.

Do I need to understand AI to use it?

No. Setup is step by step, there’s sample data to try before you use your own, and plain-language help is built into every screen, with a glossary for any word you don’t know.

Who can see what?

Each person sees only what they’re allowed to see. If you have a bookkeeper or a part-time helper, you decide what they can access.

Full detailHide detail

CONTROL applies role-based access control and visibility rules, and releases intelligence only through authorized views. A user may have access to a project but not to every classified source connected to it, or may be allowed to query information but not change it.

What if I want to stop?

Do nothing. A 3-month commitment to get started, but renewals require your explicit request. If you don’t ask to renew, it ends, and your profile and its intelligence packets are deleted from our systems after the 60-day cancellation period. How renewal works →

Is it just a chatbot?

No. A only knows what you type into it. CONTROL keeps track of what’s happening across your email, files and calendar, checks where things came from, and shows you the evidence. See the difference with one question →
